Admission to the university of Wuppertal via the TestAS aptitude test
Not all foreign qualifications that entitle the holder to undertake a degree course in their country of origin are recognised for entry to a degree course at a German higher education institution. The Higher Education Act in North Rhine-Westphalia allows higher education institutions to grant international students who do not hold a direct university entrance qualification access to undergraduate degree programmes via an entrance examination. The university of Wuppertal has implemented this provision in Section 9 of its Regulations on Admission and Enrolment of International Applicants.
Anyone who, in accordance with the assessment guidelines of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs – Central Agency for Foreign Education – and published in the‘anabin’ database, must first attend a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) and sit the assessment examination to be permitted to study in Germany, may alternatively obtain the subject-specific university entrance qualification for study at the university of Wuppertal via the TestAS.
The TestAS is a centralised, standardised aptitude test for international applicants wishing to undertake an undergraduate degree at a higher education institution in Germany. The TestAS can only be taken at licensed test centres in English or German.
Under Test centres worldwide and Test centres in Germany you will find a list of all test centres.
Anyone who can demonstrate a standard score of at least 95 (paper-based TestAS) or 75 (digital TestAS) in the TestAS core test and a score of at least 100 (paper-based or digital TestAS) in the TestAS subject module to which their chosen degree programme is assigned, will thereby acquire – together with their home country qualifications – a (foreign) subject-specific university entrance qualification for admission to a degree programme at the university of Wuppertal.
Here you will find an overview of the correspondence between Wuppertal’s degree programmes and the TestAS subject modules.
Those who have obtained entry qualifications via the TestAS may only transfer to another higher education institution in North Rhine-Westphalia to study the same degree programme once they have completed all the coursework and examinations stipulated in the relevant study or examination regulations up to and including the fourth subject semester.
